Fairfax HD
Fairfax HD is a halfwidth scalable monospace font for terminals, text editors, IDEs, etc. It supports many scripts and a large number of Unicode blocks as well as constructed scripts as encoded in the Under-ConScript Unicode Registry, pseudographics and semigraphics, and tons of private use characters.
You can download Fairfax HD here.
You can see Fairfax HD’s character repertoire here.
You can find Fairfax HD on GitHub here.
There are five variants of Fairfax HD included in the download:
- Fairfax HD is the main variant. Use this one if possible.
- Fairfax Pona HD adds OpenType features that automatically transcribe sitelen Lasina (Latin letters) into sitelen pona (the logographic writing system for toki pona).
- Fairfax Pula HD adds OpenType features that automatically transcribe titi Latila (Latin letters) into titi pula (the logographic writing system for tuki tiki).
- Fairfax Hax HD adds ligatures for programming, which is apparently a thing.
- Fairfax SM HD removes all characters not the same width as basic ASCII (combining characters, double-width characters, fixed-width spaces, etc.) for braindead programs that determine if a font is monospaced from its advance widths and not its PANOSE values (GNOME Terminal does this).
ConScript Support
As of the August 26, 2021 release, Fairfax HD supports all scripts that can possibly be supported in the (U)CSUR. For a detailed list, see the Unicode Coverage section below. The only scripts not supported are: Engsvanyali, which is too complex to be feasible; Streich, Serivelna, Ssûraki, and Timothy Miller’s Ferengi, whose glyphs have been lost to time; and Tassarunese and Semtog, whose character names and glyphs have not yet been submitted to the UCSUR. Fairfax HD is possibly the first font to provide (as complete as possible) support for the (U)CSUR.
Demos
Some of the text in this section can also be used to test system support for combining diacritics, glyph substitution, and private use characters.

Symbols for Legacy Computing
Symbols for Legacy Computing is a block of characters introduced in Unicode 13.0. Fairfax HD includes this block as well as related characters in the Private Use Area that cannot be encoded (the Apple and Atari logos and the image of J.R. “Bob” Dobbs).
These characters add support for Teletext:

Sitelen Pona
The May 22, 2022 release made substantial improvements to sitelen pona, including adding support for automatic cartouche and long glyph extension, long glyphs other than pi, ZWJ sequences, character variants, and randomized jaki. The June 16, 2022 release made further improvements, including fixes to cartouche extension and support for all compound glyphs supported by linja pona 3.6.

F856-F85F encode the CollegeHumor punctuation marks, as demonstrated:
- The “I’m Not Angry” Mark: When you need to be brief, but you’re not angry. We need to talk
- The Sinceriod: When you want to break out of your cynical shell and be truly honest with someone. Oh, wow Thank you This sweater is just what I wanted
- Sarcastises: The opposite of the sinceriod. Use when you want to be sarcastic, but in a way that’s totally different and better from whatever system you’re using now. Oh wow. Thank you. This sweater is just what I wanted.
- Hemi-Demi-Semicolon: If you don’t know when it’s appropriate to use a semicolon, and you’re too lazy to learn, you can use this in place of commas, semicolons, and periods. Pretty much wherever you feel like it. Now I can act superior and avoid learning anything I’m a stain on humanity.
- Andorpersand: One simple symbol for “and/or.” Some people hate the very existence of the phrase “and/or,” but these people are uptight stupid.
- Mockwotation Marks: For quoting something that someone didn’t say, but totally would say with the way they’re being right now. The written equivalent of doing an impression of someone by wiggling your hands by your head and saying “look at me, I’m so-and-so” in a high-pitched voice. I’m Stacey. I’m going to complain about being hungry but not offer any suggestions of my own, said Stacey.
- Superellipsis: For an extreme dramatic pause. When you want the reader to wait a good 20 seconds before reading the next part of the sentence. Maybe even imagine the lights flickering and some thunder crashing. He paused, cautiously, as he approached the superellipsis. On the other side he found more words!
- Morgan Freemark: Reminds readers that they can read words in any voice they want, so maybe they should read these words in Morgan Freeman’s voice. And so, Kevin took this big swig of vodka and straight-up ran head-first into the wall.
